Engineers review the design for manufacturability, verify component specifications, and identify potential issues before production begins. 2. Wire Cutting & Preparation

Wires are cut to specified lengths and stripped to expose the conductor. For higher-volume production, automated cut-and-strip machines handle this with precision. Wires may also be marked or labeled at this stage for identification during assembly.

3. Crimping & Termination

Terminals and contacts are crimped onto the stripped wire ends using calibrated crimp tools or automated crimp presses. Crimp quality is critical — a bad crimp is one of the leading causes of harness failure. Pull-force testing and cross-section analysis are used to verify crimp integrity.

4. Assembly on Harness Board

Terminated wires are routed on a harness assembly board (also called a jig or fixture) that mirrors the harness's final shape and routing path. 5. Electrical Testing

6. Final Inspection & Packaging
